Hi! My name is Dr. Jennifer Remnes, and I’m the co-founder of Vetique. My BFF, Dr. Jess, and I feel that a change in veterinary medicine is crucial, so we decided to shake up the entire industry. It starts with self-care, baby! Going to the vet is no longer a grueling experience, but rather a chic and luxurious one. We invite you to sit back, relax and treat yourself to a Pawsecco spritzer or a glass of Pinot Meow. We’ll take care of the critters.
Now here’s a little bit about me.
My undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. I double majored in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Psychology with a minor in Chemistry. Believe it or not, I was on a pre-med track throughout college and planned to apply to medical school. I quickly realized humans are gross, and I am way more passionate about animals. I was inducted into the Phi Zeta National Veterinary Honor Society in 2014. I graduated from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015 following completion of my clinical year at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. The wonderful small town of Chambana gifted me with endless country nights at Kams I’ll never remember with friends I’ll never forget. The small Spice Island of Grenada will forever remain a second home for me. I was fortunate enough to experience an authentic Caribbean culture, obtain a PADI scuba certification and bring home the world’s most handsome souvenir—my heart dog and Papillon, Nutmeg.
Outside of my professional career, I am a huge adrenaline junkie. I love sky diving, roller coasters, horror flicks and summiting the world’s tallest peaks. Hiking outdoors is my jam, and I try to visit at least one national park each year. When not outdoors, I revel in Peloton bootcamps, HIIT training and CrossFit. I appreciate a summer country music concert or music festival, and you can find me at the nearest honky tonk belting Morgan Wallen tunes.
My favorite animal is hands down an elephant mainly for its characteristics of compassion, empathy and social intelligence. I was fortunate enough to reside alongside these majestic giants while on safari in Africa. They are most definitely the kings and queens of the African bush! My ultimate dream would be to work on these magnificent creatures in the Serengeti and facilitate wildlife conservation efforts. The coolest animal I have ever worked on is a Siberian tiger. I assisted a board-certified veterinary dentist with a root canal, and boy, that was one large canine tooth! My passion in veterinary medicine is dermatology. Bring me all of your itchy pets!
I was born and raised in Chicago, IL. Yes, Chicago, Chicago—not the burbs. I grew up a few miles west of Wrigley Field, and I’m absolutely ecstatic that I witnessed a Cubs World Series championship within my lifetime. Hey Chicago, what do you say?I live in the Windy City with my husband, Brad, our Great Pyrenees rescue, Ophelia and our newest not-so-little addition, a Harlequin Great Dane puppy named Wally.
Some fun facts about me include my multicultural composition and zodiac sign. I stem from a diverse European melting pot, comprising Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish ancestries. I am an August baby and a true Leo, so please, roll out the red carpet.
I love all creatures (big, small, furry, feathered and scaled), and I’m thrilled to meet you and your two to four-legged family!
Dr. Jessica Trice
Veterinarian, Co-Founder
Hi! My name is Dr. Jessica Trice, and I am the co-founder of Vetique, a chic new veterinary experience! I graduated from Waubonsee Community College with an associate degree in Biological Sciences. I then received a bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in Animal Science and Agricultural Consumer and Environmental Sciences. I graduated from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine.
My multifaceted career has led me to wear many various hats in veterinary medicine, including Chief of Staff and Medical Director. I have also served as a member of the Medical Advisory Board for the Midwest and led a Mentorship Program for veterinary students and new DVM graduates. I proudly collaborated with Banfield Pet Hospital and co-authored a children’s book called “My Very, Very Busy Day.” You may have also viewed one of my many television media segments featuring pet current events, health and preventative care.
My long time passion of incorporating integrative medicine with conventional veterinary medicine finally became a reality when I received my certification of Veterinary Acupuncture along with Herbal Medicine through the Chi Institute. Additionally, I also earned certification as a Veterinary Chiropractor in the specialized area of Applied Kinesiology through the Health Pioneer Institute. Together, we can take a whole-pet approach to your pet’s therapy. My collaborative techniques blend Western medicine with holistic approaches to treatment. Let’s determine your goals for your pet’s care and develop a customized treatment plan today!
When I am not in the clinic, you can most likely find me traveling all over the world. I love making my way through Europe and all of the beautiful Caribbean Islands. I am a devoted foodie and am always up for trying out new restaurants. My favorite Chicago hot spots are Avli on the Park, Adalina Chicago, RPM Seafood, Maple & Ash and 3rd Coast Café. I prioritize my physical health and pride myself as a former fitness competitor. Fitness is much more than just working out. Fitness is mental, physical, spiritual and emotional enrichment. No matter where I am in my journey of life, fitness will always be my constant. The gain is self-rewarding and allows me to serve others.
I absolutely love baking healthy desserts, dancing the night away, spending quality time with friends and family and rewatching classic films, including My Cousin Vinny, A Bronx Tale and The Shawshank Redemption. Some of my favorite sports to cheer on include football, hockey and UFC. I devote all of my time to my beautiful, beloved Himalayans—Georgina (aka Gigi) and Gelato. I did not choose the cat lady life, the cat lady life chose me.
From the wise words of Miss Dolly Parton, if you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.
